The beginning

Thursday 2 February 2006.

Getting this forest has been like a difficult love story with a happy end. We were lured from the first time we visited it. The fact of finding a decidious woodland when we were expecting only conifers; the fact of finding a stream, a pond and even a well when we did not thought about seeing water at all or having cross a couple of deers, were aspects that made us want to belong to this charming environment.

Nevertheless, its big size for only two people, its unaffordable price and its relatibly nearness to comunication lines like the train and a highway discouraged us enough to forget the posibility of adquiring this forest. Months had passed when we visited the site again. Few days later we started the tramits to get it.

The inconvenients that turned us away from buying it became the raisons to adquire it. The forest is sited in an area especially pressed by urbanisation. We are witnesses of the accelerated disappearance of nature in favour of secondary residences, commercial malls or roads.
Then, we thought it was a good idea to get this site in order to save a natural space where they are most at risk. We could have moved to the deep countryside but it is here, near the coast, where it is urgent to protect nature.
The forest of PrimaTerra is surrounded by some other forests and fields, unfortunately, the urbanism plans for the next ten years will considerably reduce these green areas. In our most pesimistic days, we cannot avoid imagining a sad future where PrimaTerra will be an island between concrete and asphalt. Let’s hope it doesn’t come true !

We finally adquired the forest at the begining of september 2005, after hard and tedious processes of legal papers here and there.

Our main goals are to increase the diversity of plants and to create or maintain the necessary conditions to protect wildlife while producing a big porcentage of our food and energy.
